How To Deep Clean Your Laundry Room and Appliances

Below I go into how I deep clean my laundry room, washing machine, and dryer. However, I do understand that not everyone has time nor likes to read long posts. That’s why I am going to leave a button here that will take you straight to the products I recommend!

The Process of Deep Cleaning your Laundry Room and Appliances!

I follow a cleaning schedule to make sure that each room of my home gets deep cleaned every week. I am going to share with you the process of how I clean my laundry room and the products to which I use. On Thursday’s, I deep clean my laundry room. When deep cleaning any room you want to clean from top to bottom. However, if there is something in the room that needs to sit for a little while or takes longer (like laundry), start with it first.

When starting on the laundry room, there is not really anything that takes longer or that has to sit. However, I do like to start with removing the tray in my washing machine. I start with it because I have to take it to my sink to wash it with Dawn Dish Soap and a Scrub Mommy. I prefer to go ahead and get that done; so that when I get in the groove of deep cleaning the rest of the room, I don’t have to leave the room. Now, I go ahead and start at the top of the room like normal.

I take my Swiffer Duster and go around the room in the corners, as well as my shelves above my washing machine and dryer to remove all the dust. I do my cleanings from top to bottom because if I completely clean my washing machine and then push dust on to it after, that kind of defeated the whole purpose of cleaning the washing machine first. After removing the dust with the duster, I take my vacuum and turn it into the handheld version of itself. I do this because somehow lint ends up in the weirdest places in my laundry room. Also, I like to take the vacuum and do a deep vacuum of my dryer before wiping it down with my spray.

Now on to the appliances, the first one that I clean is always the washing machine. I wipe down the inside of the washing machine and around the drum with Clorox Scentiva Spray and a microfiber cloth, Once I have gotten into all the places of the washing machine, I move on to the outside of my washing machine. *If your washing machine has a place for softener that is not in the tray you took the kitchen to wash, make sure you clean that area good with a little bit of Dawn soap and a scrub mommy. You don’t want to use to much Dawn, just enough to get it clean.* Wiping down the outside of your washing machine is exactly how you will wipe down your dryer. Spray you Clorox Spray and wipe it clean with a microfiber cloth. You don’t have to worry about letting the spray sit long enough to disinfect because most likely you are just giving it a quick wipe down. The only time you will need to worry about disinfecting anything in your laundry room would be if you have mold around the drum or seal of your washing machine. To prevent mold from growing you need to do two things, wipe it down regularly and leave your washing machine door open or ajar after each use, Once that is complete, I replace the tray in the washing machine, and throw in an Affresh Washing Machine Cleaning Tablet. (I do this step only once a month!) Then I move on to the rest of the room.

With the rest of the room, it is a very simple clean. You need to wipe down the shelves with your spray and cloth. I will then vacuum the floor, making sure to use any attachments to get the hard to reach areas of the room. I do a deep clean of my laundry room floor the same day I do the kitchen. This is because my laundry room is not very big, and it is right off from the kitchen. Instead, I use the Swiffer WetJet Mop to give it a quick mop until I do the kitchen on Friday’s. All that is left to do is when the washing machine gets done cleaning itself, open the lid to let it air out, and you are completely done with the laundry room!
